cinquain...

day eight. write a cinquain of your choice.

now let me just tell you that i had to look that up.  i already told y'all that i don't really like poetry and though i know a few styles doesn't mean i know them all.  so i had to do some research as usual.  i might as well share what i found.

Adelaide Crapsey (one of the most unique names I have ever heard) was an American poet who was inspired by the Japanese styled poems, the haiku and tanka.  Her well known poem, "November Night" is below…

Listen
With faith dry sound
Like steps of passing ghosts
The leaves, frost-crisp'd, break from the trees
And fall.

when i first saw her poem, I had absolutely no idea what the form was so I had to do more research.  apparently there's many different versions of the cinquain poem so i chose the version in which the first line is the title. the second line is two words that describe the title.  the third line is three words that tell the action.  the fourth line is four words that express the feeling and lastly, the fifth line is one word that recalls the title.  basically i'm confused.

family
mixed blood
should never break
but they often do
siblings
