yellow

if you know me personally and even if you don't, i'll tell you anyway. i like everything to have a meaning. i  often look up things to find out where they started historically.  [floetry said it best, "zero is a different kind of first place"] i particularly like the meaning of colors, astrology and names.  so i looked up the color yellow. apparently the color yellow physically stimulates the mental processes and nervous system, activates memory and encourages communication. i figure those are some of the best ingredients for a blog to have.  the golden yellow carries the promise of a positive future, it instills optimism and energy and sparks creative thoughts. [courtesy of www.sensationalcolor.com]. the full website tells much more about every color but i'm going to condense it into my favorites.

yellow is the color of the solar plexus chakra [it's located  in your belly]. when the chakra is open, it empowers a person and helps them find their personal strength [i'm gonna need a ton of that at a cheap price].

and the other color that has gathered my fancy, probably because it's the summertime, is white [which is really the absence of color but we need not get technical]. Kate Smith writes, "white projects purity, cleanliness and neutrality."

[can i just say as a sociology major, i decline the expectations that white projects purity & cleanliness primarily because the opposite of that is black.  this internalization of color recognition often leaves the people identified as 'black' in a negative and inferior position.  so though i agree with ms. smith's definition of the color white, i don't f.cking like it, not when it comes down to the personalization of colors in terms of behavior and race.  we can talk about this simple sh.t all day but i didn't forget what i went to school for.  i didn't forget how 'black' little girls think 'white' is right, better and superior.  basically perception is everything. if you get in someone's mind, you have conquered their spirit.  for the sake of this post, i like the definition of white on a superficial level however please recognize the damaging effects of the human psyche by way of vernacular.  most of what we think is what we speak, at least if you say it enough]

physically, the color white aids mental clarity, encourages us to clear obstacles, evokes purification of thoughts or actions and enables fresh beginnings.  crazy thing is, white was the color of deepest mourning [NOT BLACK] among European queens until the end of the fifteen century.

what inspired this recent infatuation for color? my beautiful bouquet of flowers.  if i bloom half as beautifully, i will be in a good place.
